40 decades ago the viticulturist family that founded Dominio de la Vega were the primary participants in creating CAVA from Requena, our region; right from the beginning (nearly 2 decades ago) they took a gamble by extracting and revealing all the potential that was hidden, in our native BOBAL variety; a quiet job, long and constant.
Simplicity, humility, experience, professionalism and lots of perseverance are some of Dominio de la Vega’s Characteristic values. In this winery we produce authentic and expressive wines created in calmness, which transmit the essence of our vineyards. It’s very important that during the year we look after the strain well, thanks to that we achieve the best fruits from the vine. Fruits which we collect during the harvest, a key moment for the winery and where decisions are made that determine the future of production. Our technical director, Daniel Expósito, says that wine production isn’t dissimilar to “the kitchen of a good restaurant. We can have good machinery and the best professionals but if the material isn’t special, the ‘dish’ will never have soul”. For that reason, the selection table is one continuous belt where the professionals remove the grapes that could be unripe, ensuring good quality control for the product.
